CREATIVE COLLISIONS Group show with EMAP artists @ ECSITE 2024 Conference

May 31, 2024, 8:10 am - June 28, 2024, 8:10 am

Contrary to the common belief that art and science are inherently intertwined, it is worth emphasizing that both can often thrive independently of each other. However, scientific advancements, shaping our world and affecting individuals and society through impactful technologies, inevitably intersect with artistic inquiry. This artistic lens critically examines the meaning and significance of these civilizational transformations, prompting deeper societal reflection. In those exceptional instances where artists and scientists merge their investigative and creative powers, extraordinary outcomes can emerge. These collaborations push the boundaries of our understanding, challenging our perceptions and opening up new dimensions of thought.

The upcoming ECSITE 2024 conference, the most important annual gathering of the European Network of Science Centres and Museums, hosted by the Kersnikova Institute in Ljubljana (June 5-8), presents a unique opportunity to showcase the most exciting creative collisions between art, science and technology. The Creative Collisions exhibition features artworks that delve into groundbreaking scientific research, each of which holds the promise of changing the future.

The group exhibition that will intertwine all ECSITE conference venues - the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, Ljubljana Castle, and the Kersnikova Institute (Kapelica Gallery) - presents works by artists who have participated at EMAP residencies (Alizée Armet, Marco Barotti, Dorotea Dolinšek, Moritz Simon Geist, Emanuel Gollob, Kasia Molga, Vivien Roussel, Marc Vilanova) and others (Louis-Philippe Demers & Bill Vorn, Špela Petrič, Ana Rajčević, Saša Spačal & Mirjan Švagelj & Anil Podgornik, Zoran Srdić Janežič, ::vtol::, Where Dogs Run).

The exhibition Creative Colissions runs until 28 June 2024 at Kersnikova Institute, Ljubljana.
The ECSITE 2024 conference takes place from 05 – 08 June 2024 at GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre.
