Located in Gijón, Asturias, LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial was opened on 30 March 2007. LABoral is a Centre for the exchange and cooperation between art, science, technology, society and the creative industries. LABoral functions as an open lab for technological, social and cultural exchange based on a cross‐cutting approach between fields, communities and practices. Based on this premix, LABoral offers itself as a node for integrated research distributed in its diverse programs of production, exhibition, education and communication. As opposed to the traditional institutional models, LABoral intends a more organic structure designed to manage the need to produce, distribute and communicate contemporary culture to all audiences. LABoral intends to be a platform for emerging forms of contemporary creation which allows creators to access the international institutional network and pioneer projects in the fields of art, science, technology and society.
