INTERMEDIALE, as the Festival of Audiovisual Forms, is understood as a platform for exploring how relations between different modalities are created, particularly between image and sound, as well as between various types of analogue and digital media. It focuses on the fluctuations between what is audible and what is visible, generated through electronic and digital tools.

The festival has been taking place for over three decades, previously under a different name, as the Media Arts Presentations, which for the first time took place in 1994. As a festival presenting a wide range of possibilities for using new technologies in audiovisual arts, it was then one of the first events in Poland promoting this type of activity.

Since then, we have been presenting projects that reflect current directions and tendencies in audiovisual art and technology‑driven performance, presenting interdisciplinary works that creatively combine image and sound, often drawing on feedback effects, signal modulation, glitch techniques, and other methods that reveal the unique properties of analogue imagery, including transformations of colour, texture, rhythm, wave distortion, and raster manipulation. These approaches are employed both in narrative video works and in pieces that are purely formal in nature, in installations and performances. We support A/V experiments that integrate sound, image, and technology, situated at the intersection of experimental audio art, video art, technology‑driven performance, media archaeology, and digitality.

Since 2020, as part of the INTERMEDIALE Festival, we have been organizing Videosyntezy, a biennial exhibition of video created using analog techniques, modular synthesis, and hybrid video. Videosyntezy series has been developing dynamically, becoming a globally recognized event promoting video art created using analog and hybrid tools. As an interdisciplinary exhibition presenting the most interesting phenomena at the intersection of video art, new media, and audiovisual expression, Videosynezy provides a unique platform for artists, researchers, and audiences interested in the contemporary language of analog and hybrid video.
