Maps are a powerful form of media, enriched by the state-of-the-art of digital technologies and investigative frameworks. Contemporary mapmaking combines video, complex diagrammatic skills and web-based experience. Based on this relationship between maps and media art, EMAP member LABoral promotes a new Capacity Building Workshop, curated and moderated by former radical cartographer Pablo de Soto, with the participation of Vladan Joler, artist and professor at the New Media Department of the University of Novi Sad, FeiFei Zhou, spatial and visual designer teaching at Columbia GSAPP, and Mamata Akella, Cartographic System Designer at Felt.
