Artist Lukas Truniger, in collaboration with scientist Bruce Yoder, presents Implausible Rainbows: An Exercise in Skyscaping, an immersive light and sound installation developed within an EMAP residency (2024) at our member LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in 2024. The work will be presented at Responsive Dreams 2026 at by EMAP Partner The Generative Art Museum and is supported with an EMAP Partner Presentation Grant (PPG).
Using highly focused light sources, specialised optics, rotating mirrors and spatialised sound, the installation creates synthetic rainbows that slowly move and transform throughout the exhibition space. Responding to each visitor’s position, the work reflects on humanity’s desire to imitate and control nature while appropriating techniques associated with weather control, climate engineering and geoengineering for a poetic artistic experience.
