Darsha Hewitt is part of the 2023 SONICA Festival with her EMAP project High Fidelity Wasteland II: The Proto Plastic Groove, a sound-centric trilogy that experiments with the material waste left over from generations of decomposing sound reproduction technology.

The theme of the 15th edition, Translocal Underground, alludes to the complex nexus of aesthetic tangents and transgeographical connections that characterise contemporary music production, which is locally inspired but globally-oriented.
