Meet Calin Segal who started the residency @ ars electronica in september, working in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Cristian Axenie SMIEEE.

Calin Segal is an architect turned computational artist whose work explores the intersection of systems and human experience. Initially working in humanitarian architecture, his interest in computer graphics and electronic music led him toward VJ-ing and scenography, where spatial design became a medium for atmospheric storytelling. This trajectory has since evolved into a broader multidisciplinary practice featured in exhibitions, festivals, museums, and galleries worldwide.

Segal’s research-driven work focuses on translating natural and social phenomena into algorithmic forms. He develops what he terms “computational anecdotes”: immersive, interactive environments that make the dynamics of complex systems perceptible. By merging technical precision with artistic inquiry, his installations examine how the underlying mechanics of climate, infrastructure, and governance shape our everyday experiences.
